Travel Information
 
Tatranska Lomnica is a small town in the Tatra  National Park, located in the western part of the High Tatras. It
It is situated 15km north from the city Poprad, which has an international airport (but the airport has limited connections) .
 
 The easiest way to get to the hotel Academia in Tatranska Lomnica /Stara Lesna is to take a taxi from Poprad. The price should be close 
to 20 euro maximum (which corresponds to roughly 700 Slovak crown, the old currency).
 
(There is a cheap but a bit less convenient alternative. From the second station of Poprad, which is called Poprad-Spiš.Sobota (it is the final stop of the train coming from Bratislava) 
one can take train to Studeny Potok, it takes 10 min, then there is direct connection to Tatranska Lomnice (3min for change ,it is designed for) which duration 
12 mins to Tatranská Lomnica, exit there. The trains go every 30 min, price should be small (cca 2E). But at end one has to walk from Tatranska Lomnica to 
Stara Lesna, which is approximately 1km.)
 
 
 
To go to Poprad:
 
1)         Poprad airport: The closest airport is to fly to the international airport of Proprad.  
     Infos at:  www.airport-poprad.sk/index.php?lang=en  . However, the Poprad-airport has a limited connections.  
 
 
2)         Kosice airport(Slovakia): http://www.airportkosice.sk/ . 
   This is probably the easisest option, but often the tickets to Kosice are expensive.
          There is train coming from Košice to Poprad almost every hour with short duration 1h 33min and price.
 
 
Cheaper options are via Vienna or Bratislava airports. They  require longer train journeys, see below:

       All train to Slovakia are passing through Bratislava. So one can take train to Bratislava and then to Poprad-Tatry. (There are many connections per day).
       There are two relevant stations  Vienna Westbanhof and Vienna Sudbanhof. Most of the connections to Poprad are leving form Sudbanhof. 
        Duration:  5-6 hours.
 
Transport in Bratislava and nearby:
 
 * The connection of Airport in Vienna and Airport in Bratislava: is provided by bus company Blaguss, departures on this site. 
       The journey  takes approximately 1 hour, costs 6.0 €.
 
    * The connection of Airport in Vienna and Bratislava Main Bus Station:  is provided by bus company Eurolines with departures from Airport Vienna
      (VIE) at 8:00, 8:30, 9:30, 10:40, 11:30, 12:30, 13:30, 14:30, 15:30, 16:30, 17:30, 18:30, 19:30, 20:30, 21:30, 23:30. 
     The journey takes approximately 1 hour.
      In the opposite direction departures are at 5:30, 6:00, 7:00, 7:30, 8:00, 9:00, 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 13:00, 14:00, 15:00, 16:00, 17:00, 18:00, 19:00, 20:00.
 
    * The connection of Main Railway Station and Main Bus Station:  is provided by the trolley bus No. 210 (from August 27th 2009) with 12
        min. intervals. The tickets are sold at the ticket vendors or at news-stands.
 
   * The connection of Main Railway Station and Bratislava Airport (BTS):  is provided by the bus No. 61 with 25 min. intervals. The tickets are sold at the ticket vendors or at news-      stands.
 
   4) Bratislava airport: www.airportbratislava.sk/ 
 
Via Bratislava-airport: flight to Bratislava and then to take a train from Bratislava main stations. 
There is a fast train connection each 1-2 hour per day. The travel last 4h
30min. This is the best option. There is also bus coming every hour from Bratislava main bus station.
Duration 4h 30min ,price 14 E.

Last possibility, although not recommended: 
 
   5) Krakow airport (Poland): www.krakowairport.pl/en 
Train Krakow-Poprad . There are few connections, all of them require some changes in Zilina (Slovakia) and Bohumin (Czech Republic). Duration 8-9
hours. The best solution is the night train with a change in Bohumin (CR) 22:15   Krakow Glowny   01:09   Bohumín  01:20  Bohumín 05:47   Poprad-Tatry 
(this is for this year, i.e. 2009, take a care about possible shifts for 2010).
