The follwing page will give some hints how to choose the right queue. This is mainly useful for users of the 'dfg' nodes. Most other users will not have really much options.

Queue dfg

This queue serves the old nodes bought into January 2008. This nodes have only gigabit interconnects, which is slow in comparison to infiniband and not optimal for large MPI jobs. This queue is the best queue choice for single slot jobs.

Queue dfg-big

This queue serves the newest and biggest nodes. This nodes have 4 8-core CPU's and 128 GB of memory. They are useful for big SMP and MPI jobs up to 32 Slots. MPI jobs across node boundaries have only slow gigabit for communication and does not relay make sense. Therefore only the SMP parallel environment is configured. Submitting other PE's to this hosts will not run.

Queue dfg-ib

The last dfg queue is designed for large MPI jobs, with fast Infiniband interconnects (Infinihost III). There are nodes with 8 or 12 CPU cores.
